Tell us a little about yourself!

Nico De Bruyn is a marketer and entrepreneur with a flair for leaving everyone he meets better off than he found them. He is often touted as the guy who can sell anything; he even once sold empty Apple iPhone and MacBook boxes online. Nico is an author, digital marketer, growth hacker, speaker, entrepreneur and an immigrant from South Africa.

“More important than how I could be described, I live by the mission to leave every person a little better than I found them.”

Nico is passionate about taking hard marketing concepts and breaking them down into easy principles, which he shares in his book, We’re All Marketers. He believes that everyone should care about marketing because at the end of the day, we are all marketing ourselves, our companies and our organizations; yet most people have never received any education on how to do this in a digital, connected world.

Tell us about your company and how you got started!

Before Boundless media I ran an app company that literally crashed and burned! When I went through to understand why it all came back to marketing! We had a good idea, the technology but what we fail to do is communicate that specific solution to our specific audience. I decided I would never be at the mercy of marketing again and as I dug deeper until I understood that it wasn’t just me that was struggling with it, so many small businesses all across the United States and the world have great ideas solutions products and services, but struggle to communicate that socially with their audiences. I couldn’t have saved my first company, but my understanding of marketing and committing myself to help all other businesses, I can help impact there’s so that it doesn’t go the way of my first.

What advice do you have for other aspiring entrepreneurs?

The biggest advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to give it a try. I know it’s cliché but you’ll be so surprised when you give something a try even if you fail you’ll learn valuable lessons that will make your next idea or venture so much more effective. Don’t worry that you don’t have the finances, connections, skills that are out of your control and probably will come with time. But control them on the work that you put into these ideas and don’t be afraid to get started.
